The latest Med Golf competition took place at Dona Julia Golf Club on Sunday 22nd March, Just under 50 players battled through some windy and cold conditions.

It was a successful day for Domenico D’Ascenzi who won the Johnnie Walker Trophy and a pro shop voucher for 130 euros with a winning overall score of 37 points.

Winner of the 1st category (0- 12 handicap) was Simon Young with 33 points and runner up was John McHale also with 31 points.

Winner of the 2nd category (13- 21 handicap) was David Liu with 33 points and runner up was Paul Appleyard with 32 points.

Winner of the 3 rd category (22 - 36 handicap) was Claudio D'Ascenzi with 33 points and runner up was Tim Mitchell with 32 points.

The senior division was also won by Domenico D’Ascenzi and best gross score went to John Hunter who played the course in 80 shots.

Other prize winners for nearest the pins and longest drive were, John Powell, John McHale, John Hunter, Simon Young and Josh Hunter.

The campaign for the 2008/09 “Player of the Year” award, sponsored by Estepona Golf Club, is well under way and with the top ten members at the end of July receiving invitations to the Med Golf Masters at Valderrama in late summer 2009, competition is fierce now after 8 events.
