Cruz & Co. Trophy

Almenara was the venue for our latest tournament on Sunday 27th April and this attracted over 60 golfers competing for the Cruz & Co. Trophy. Winning here was one of our keenest supporters Joe Sanchez, followed by David Liu and Kevin Castle who were second and third respectively. Joe not only won the sponsors crystal vase but also a weekend for two at the superb 5-star Montecastillio Golf and Spa Hotel organised by Med Golf holidays, with David and Kevin both winning vouchers to exchange in the pro shop.

It was one of those days for Joe, as not only did he win the major prize but also the team prize with brother Nicky, the prize for the day’s best gross round and his winning score made sure he returned to the top ten in the Med Golf’s rankings. Winning the ladies section was Julie Brewer, the top senior was Frank Samways and Louis Posso took the “star quality” award.

Amongst the other prize winners, young Dan Kenyon secured two nearest the pin prizes, as well as having the day’s longest drive and the other nearest the pin winners were Douglas Casciaro, David Liu, Kevin Castle and Matt Charlesworth.

Med Golf’s “top ten” at the end of July receive an invitation to play in the EPI Med Golf Masters at Valderrama in September and after this event, there is only one change in the rankings with Joe Sanchez replacing Roy Azzopardi..

The race for those coveted Valderrama places is wide open and you still five tournaments to go before the end of July to improve your individual ranking scores.
