Competitors at the Lewis Stagnetto Trophy

There was another excellent turnout for our latest tournament at the Marbella Golf & Country Club on Sunday 1st June, where one of our long standing members John Dale beat over 60 golfers to win the Lewis Stagnetto Trophy. John won the sponsors crystal trophy and a weekend for two at the 5-star La Cala Resort, organised by Med Golf holidays. Second place went to Graham Berry, with young Josh Hunter third and they won vouchers to exchange in the pro shop. It was a good day all round for John, as with his partner Frank Samways he took the team prize, but more importantly with his winning score, he moved himself back in to the top ten of our rankings. The ever consistent Frank was also the days “top senior”, winning the ladies section was Julie Burgess and Martyn Brown added another trophy to his collection by taking the “star quality” award. Amongst the other prize winners, young Dan Kenyon had the best gross score of the day, as well as winning the longest drive prize. Nearest the pin winners were John McHale, Julie Burgess, Louis Calvente and Vinny Samways.

With only three tournaments to go before we determine who our “player of the year” will be and the final ten for Valderrama are known, every good score certainly makes a difference. After adding the results from Marbella, as well as John moving back in to the top ten, Josh has climbed to fourth place in the standings.
