Description
Atalaya Park Golf and Country Club is one of the Costa del Sol's most exclusive golfing complexes and comprises of two magnificent 18-hole courses as well as many other facilities to enjoy at the luxurious 4 star hotel nearby. It is the official home of PGA Europe.

As for the courses themselves, the original one (known as the "old course") was designed by Bernard Von Limburger and opened back in 1968. Revamping and subsequent improvements have been made to make this one of the most popular places to play on the Costa del Sol. The old course is parkland with wide lush fairways and fast elevated greens, well-positioned bunkers and water hazards. It has some long challenging holes but suits all levels of handicap. The course is impressive with fairways guarded by Eucalyptus, Olive and Pine trees that provide welcome shade in the summer months. However, they are always ready to catch the wayward shot and you will need to take your medicine and chip sideways back to the fairway. This is considered one of the finest courses on the coast and offers splendid views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar. You must ensure you play here if you are in this part of the Costa del Sol.

The later course (referred to as the "new course") was opened in 1992 and is different to the old course in so many ways. It is perhaps more challenging and certainly more hilly as you get further in to the course. It starts off gently and very relaxing between the wide fairways of the old course but then gets more difficult as you approach the foothills. It then wanders back down again to the lower levels of the old course. The fairways are narrow and sloping and there are several lakes to negotiate on your way round. It is a very good test of golf where your drive and ball placement is very important. Again there are views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar but here you have the added bonus of the La Concha Mountain. You can also admire the abundance of wildflowers and gorse bushes on your way round that make this the perfect setting.

Both courses are extremely popular and welcome visitors but you should book your tee time through Med Golf to avoid disappointment. There is ample parking and the clubhouse is luxurious offering excellent changing facilities, bar and restaurant with terraced area to enjoy the views. You can walk both courses but in the warmer weather it is advisable to take advantage of the buggies available. Atalaya boasts of one of the largest practice areas in Spain with putting and chipping greens, where you can also have tuition if required. The pro shop is well stocked and you will find all the staff in the complex very friendly.

Atalaya has its own 4 star hotel that will appeal to all sport and nature lovers. It is situated in a quiet location right on the beach amidst 20 acres of beautiful sub tropical gardens between San Pedro and Estepona. The hotel offers you, totally free of charge, excellent sports facilities including six swimming pools (two indoor), fully equipped gymnasium, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Turkish Baths, archery, tennis, table tennis, snooker, horse riding and much more for all the family to enjoy. Why not let Med Golf organise your holiday or golfing break? at this hotel and complex where all the family are entertained. When you stay at the Atalaya Park hotel there is a booking priority for the golf courses as well as concessionary green fees and free transport to the clubhouse.

Atalaya Park is a beautiful resort for all the family to enjoy and is very highly recommended by Med Golf.
