Description

Aymerich Golf Management are one of the leading companies in golf course design and management in Europe and one of their latest editions is Calanova Golf Club, which is set in the Mijas Valley, 10 kms from Fuengirola and 15 kms from Marbella. It is easily accessible from Malaga’s International airport and the new motorway system. It is a private club with some 1,100 members but it is also open to paying green fee customers. It is an area with considerable development plans, including further golf courses, hotels and residential development.

As for the course itself, it has been constructed to USGA rules and regulations in respect of the tees, bunkers, drainage and greens. There are extraordinary landscape views to the Mediterranean and the La Cal de Mijas mountains from virtually every hole, which is a feature of the course. The terrain is natural and there are a variety of wide, flat fairways to hit and you can see any obstacles before hitting your next shot to the green.  Another feature is that the tees are on different platforms, which gives the course a perfect way of varying the length. They are of very high quality and a player can visualise their shot from the tee box. The greens have an average area of over 400 sqm and they have been shaped so that pin positions can be varied from the simple to the extremely difficult. The course has matured swiftly and the designers have made a first class job of what they had to work with.

The course is an excellent addition to the golfing scene in this part of the Costa del Sol and with the close proximity of many other fine courses it is an ideal place to enjoy a golfing break. Why not let Med Golf organise this for you?

There is ample parking but at the moment there is only a temporary clubhouse where you will find the pro shop, reception, changing rooms and showers. There is also a very fine restaurant, which has spectacular sea views from the terrace.

We feel sure you will enjoy this course and all it has to offer, as well as the surrounding scenery.
