Description
The course is situated close to the port of La Duqesa and this area is becoming more popular with golfing holidaymakers particularly as the new motorway makes it more accessible. The port offers excellent bar and restaurant facilities with an active nightlife for those wishing to enjoy themselves. You can also admire the yachts moored in the harbour by the wealthier visitors. If you are looking for a day out combined with a game of golf then La Duquesa fits the bill.

The course is renowned for its spectacular landscape with views of the mountains and Mediterranean. Designed by Robert Trent-Jones and constructed in 1989 the course is always very popular and welcomes visitors. However, it is advisable to let Med Golf book your tee time in advance to avoid disappointment.

La Duquesa is one of the Costa del Sol's most varied courses and regular improvements have been made over the years to the course itself and the greens. Many holes require strict concentration and straight driving and it is a challenging course for golfers of all standards offering a good mixture of distances, hazards and strategically placed bunkers. Some fairways can be a little tight and a long iron is perhaps of more use than a driver on several holes. You certainly have to think your way round and carefully line up those putts on greens which are not as easy as they seem. The par 3's are a feature particularly the eighth where there is a vertical drop of some 10 metres to a green that is only 108 metres away. Another factor is the breeze that can make playing that little bit more difficult although it can be very refreshing in the warmer months!

On arrival you will find ample parking, a very good clubhouse with bar and restaurant facilities and a large terraced area where you can watch the golfers return. The staff always make you feel very welcome and this is renowned for being one of the friendliest courses on the coast. There are changing facilities, a good pro shop, putting green as well as a large practice area. There are ample buggies available and due to the nature of the course it is advisable to take advantage of them.

La Duquesa is a very relaxing course to play and should be part of your itinerary when you visit this part of the coast even if it is just to take advantage of the panoramic views that are always available here. Certainly recommended by us at Med Golf.
