Is the venue for Andy's Captains Day 2006 competition and will be held at Estepona on Saturday 22nd April.

Mijas 30th April

Estepona Golf sponsor the Med Golf rankings and after the final event at Estepona on the 30th July, the winner will 12 months membership there with unlimited golf, which is valued at 1,400 euros.

The player of the year rankings are based on the best 5 Med Golf tournament scores and as in previous years, there are several players in contention. Leading the way at the moment is Dan Aldridge with 34.6, followed by Graham Hawkins and Nicky Sanchez with 33.2 and Louis Calvente and Wai To with 31.4.

Graham leads the way for the senior player of the year, which carries an invitation for the Med Golf Masters at Valderrama.

Last month's winner was Wayne Peter who knew the Madeira Open was at Santo Serra Golf Club.

Although the “Black Crow” was with us at Cabopino, it was nice to send him home early as everyone helped by making their tee times.

Over Easter, several Med Golf members spent a few days at Islantilla with their families and also enjoyed some golf. One such member was none other than the Gibraltar Golf Union President, Geoff Holt. Geoff doesn’t profess to be the best golfer in the world but even he exceeded his own exploits when on the 8th hole his ball was seen to “ruffle” a few feathers of a poor bird minding his own business on the fairway! Undeterred, Geoff strode to the 10th tee, where witnesses saw his drive hit a tree 50 metres along the fairway, which promptly dispatched the ball some 70 metres sideways in to the clubhouse, much to the amazement of the diners on the terrace. Needless to say Geoff never saw his ball again and left the scene as fast as his buggy would go!
