Saturday 26th August will be a practice round at Novo Sancti Petri and Sunday 27th will be the main tournament event at Dehesa, which is sponsored by Renson Management. We do enjoy a very good relationship with the majority of courses along the coast and in some instances Med Golf members can enjoy green fee discounts of over 30 euros a round when they show their membership card. Each day we are adding courses to our list and the latest are Antequerra, Calanova and Finca Cortesin.

Congratulations to Finbarr Holland who was the winner of the Blue Sky Trophy held at Estepona on Sunday 30th July. In second place was Kevin Jones, with young Josh Hunter continuing to show his potential by finishing third.

It was fitting that Estepona should hold the final event in our 2005/06 competition season, as the Blue Sky trophy eventually decided the winner of the Med Golf “player of the year”, who would receive a years free membership, sponsored and provided by Estepona Golf Club, worth in excess of 1400 euros.
It had been a very tight contest right up to the final competition and after his last day effort of a superb 2 under par round of 70, it was nice to see one of Med Golf’s youngsters, Dan Aldridge, take the title with an average stableford score of 36.4 points. He is a very consistent and prominent performer and thoroughly deserves his success. Congratulations from us all at Med Golf.
Dan was followed by John Cooper and Jeff Richardson with 36.2 points, John and Josh Hunter with 36 points, Nicky Sanchez with 35.8 points, Denny To with 35.6 points, Kevin Jones with 35.2 points and finally in the top 10, John Dale and Dan Kenyon with 35 points.

Congratulations must also go to Jeff Richardson who finally won the “senior player of the year” at the Estepona event. Again, there was a very close finish that went down to the final day but Jeff had been in a very rich vein of form when it mattered and triumphed in the end with an average score of 36.2 points that nearly saw him win the “player of the year” as well. Denny To followed him with 35.6 points.
Finbarr, Dan and Jeff now take their place alongside Louis Calvente, Denny To, Nicky Sanchez, Russ Crawford, Frank Samways, Andy Griffin, Neil Emmerson, Tom Parry , and Geoff Watchorn for the Med Golf Masters at Valderrama. This will be on Sunday 5th November and there could be some fireworks that day in more ways than one, as we can expect the course to be in magnificent condition with very fast greens, following the conclusion of the Volvo Masters the week before.
We are pleased to welcome Blue Sky Management and Aage Marine Electronics as the main sponsors of the event and sincerely thank them for their support, on what is always a superb day for all concerned.

Our new “season” for 2006/07 starts with the Renson ManagementTrophy at Montenmedio on Sunday 27th August and we are pleased to announce Estepona Golf will again be sponsoring the Med Golf rankings , with the “player of the year” winning the 12-month membership valued at over 1400 euros, which they have kindly put on offer. There is also the matter of an invite to the Med Golf Masters at Valderrama in November 2007.

At Med Golf we appreciate all the support we get from our membership and are fortunate we have a very strong nucleus of players who participate in our monthly competitions.
