Welcome to the latest news from Med Golf and having just returned from our May bank holiday tournament weekend in Morocco, we are off again this weekend to the superb, ever popular 5-star Montecastillo Golf and Spa resort just outside Jerez. This hotel and spa is luxury at its best and we still have a few places available for this 2-day package from 16th-18th June, which includes:-
- 2 nights accommodation with breakfast
- Welcoming dinner
- 2 rounds of golf on the Jack Nicklaus course or 2 Spa treatments for non-golfers
Price per person is GBP 269 based on sharing a double room.
Children are more than welcome and the cost per child is £99 and £30 per round if they want to play golf. Please note, if you have children you will be upgraded to a villa in the hotel grounds.
Saturday 17th June will be a practice round and the Sunday will be the main tournament event, which is sponsored by the Gala Casino, Gibraltar. If you are not staying with us, why not drive up to play the tournament, where the green fee is just 65 euros for this championship course. Estepona Golf sponsor the Med Golf rankings and after the final event at Estepona on the 30th July, the winner will receive 12 months membership there with unlimited golf, which is valued at 1,400 euros.
The player of the year rankings are based on the 5 best Med Golf scores and Dan Aldridge is still leading the way with an average of 34.8 points, closely followed by George Desoisa and Nicky Sanchez with 34.4 points. Louis Calvente and the new name of John Cooper have 34 points. Denny To is still leading the way in the seniors with an average of 34.2.

Last month’s winner was Michael Barry who knew the Nissan Irish Open was held at Carton House Golf club.
Our trip to Morocco was to say the least memorable in more ways than one but thankfully we managed to get all the ladies back safely and everyone enjoyed the experience. The journey itself had its moments, which kept every one amused.
After congregating at Algeciras, we unfortunately had to wait a couple of hours to catch the ferry due to rough seas. We finally got away but to say the crossing was bumpy, is putting it mildly, with one wave being particularly nasty! Fortunately, we docked safely and our transport was waiting at Ceuta and we soon settled in to our hotel. The facilities were superb and we enjoyed a couple of games of golf on the beautiful layout at Cabo Negro. What a shame there isn’t the funding to continuously maintain the course on a daily basis.
After the prize presentation with our sponsor, Aage Hempel Marine Electronics, we boarded the bus to make our way back to Ceuta . Everything was fine until we went through the Morocco/Ceuta border, whereupon the suspension decided to break on the right hand side. After we all moved to the left side of the coach, it managed to limp safely to the ferry terminal, much to our relief.
We know how to keep our customers entertained at Med Golf.
