Play in my Captain’s Day on Saturday 22nd April
Another note for your diary is my Captain’s Day at Estepona on Saturday 22nd April. The competition is an individual Stabelford with excellent prizes on offer. For a mere 75 euros you get coffee and a bacon roll on arrival, your green fee including buggy and a 3-course lunch when you return. For all our male golfing subscribers who are resident in Gibraltar, you are invited invited by the GGU to participate in the qualifiers for the Small Island
Games and if successful, represent Gibraltar at Rhodes in July 2007.
The qualifying criteria are: -
- You must be a fully paid up member of the GGU
- You must hold a Gibraltar ID card
- You must have a handicap of 12 or less (Games competition rules)
- You must play in at least four of the qualifying events
All the qualifiers will be held at Alcaidesa during this year and the dates for your diary are: - 8th April, 20th May, 3rd June, 9th September, 7th October and 4th November.
GGU President Geoff Holt will be writing to all those players who qualify by handicap from Med Golf’s handicap list, but if any player feels he has been left out, he should contact Geoff on Tel: 73871 or e-mail him at ophir@gibtelecom.net
Geoff has also asked us to mention another note for the diary and that is the 2006 National Day competition will be held at Alcaidesa on Saturday 2nd September. Further details will be given later but the format will be a four-ball Texas scramble, so start getting your teams together.

The “Black Crow” was out and about at Alcaidesa and has noted that Chris Warren, Paul Nash, Mark Wilkinson and Pat Mayberry did not make their tee times and unfortunately the required notice was not given.
At the Alcaidesa competition, you may have noticed a fitter, slimmer starter due to the fact our regular man, Mike Goodson, decided to have his first day off in 10 years and spend some quality time in Portugal with his lovely wife Jean. We always knew Mike was an old romantic but hopefully he will give us a bit more notice when he wants another day off!
