Sunday 25th January - The Famous Grouse Trophy

Some of the prize winners and players from the Famous Grouse Trophy.

The latest Med Golf competition took place at El Paraiso Golf Club on Sunday 25th January, it was a very wet and windy day but the players still managed to shoot some great scores. The sponsor on the day was Famous Grouse.

It was a successful day for Peter Warren who won the sponsor's Crystal Trophy and a Pro Shop voucher for 130 euros with a winning overall score of 42 points.

Winner of the 1st category (0- 12 handicap) was Mike Cowburn with 37 points and runner up was Tim Rickson with 36 points.

Winner of the 2nd category (13- 21 handicap) was Douglas Casciaro with 35 points and runner up was Rodney Sheriff with 33 points.

Winner of the 3rd category (22 - 36 handicap) was Alan Sene with 35 points and runner up was Soeren Valbro with 32 points.

The senior division was won by Denny To and best gross score went to Tim Rickson who played the course to level par.

Other prize winners for nearest the pins and longest drive were Paul Appleyard, Martin Brown, Josh Hunter, Gary Chant, and Ron Brayson.


Player of the Year

We have now played six tournaments which count towards the 2008/09 Player of the Year rankings, and already have some familiar names on the leader board waiting to secure their invitation to the Med Golf Masters at Valderrama in late summer 2009.


Remember you must play in a minimum of five of our tournaments to qualify but here is the present leader board just for information.

And finally...


The new events schedule for 2009 has now been confirmed, which includes some new courses for Med Golf and some old courses which we have not played for some time. We hope that this will provide our members with a good mix of different and enjoyable courses for 2009.

The exciting schedule also includes an Easter weekend away based in the superb Arcos Gardens near Jerez, and a trip to Ireland where the Med Golf team will be joining teams from all over the U.K. Please book your places now, limited places available on both trips.
