Description
Monte Mayor has to be considered one of the most spectacular courses in Andalucia. It can boast of wonderful views of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and on a clear day the African coastline. With the course nestling in the mountains of Behavis even getting there is an adventure in itself but your patience will be rewarded!

The course features a challenging layout over mountainous terrain and was designed by Jose Garcedo and opened in 1992. It welcomes all standards of golfer but is more hospitable to the accurate one rather than the wayward one. The fairways are undulating but are always in superb condition along with the sloping greens that are also of high quality. During your round you will experience peace and tranquillity at its best amongst natural beauty that will make your visit unforgettable. The layout offers a good mixture of holes with several tees on raised platforms with waterfalls and rivers adorning the course. As with most courses constructed in a confined area the holes need to be designed to get maximum distance and difficulty and the par 3's are very impressive here in that respect. You cannot help being impressed with the design and condition of the course even if you may find it demanding in places. Before you start your round make sure you are aware of all the local rules as they will differ considerably from those you will normally be associated with. It is not every day you get a free drop if you miss the fairway!

Make sure you take in the breathtaking views when you journey to the course and on arrival you will find ample parking. The clubhouse offers the normal bar, restaurant and changing facilities and there is a practice area and putting green. You will find the buggies are offered as part and parcel of the green fee and you are recommended to use them even if you are the fittest of the fittest.

Monte Mayor is well worth a visit if you are in the area and make sure you bring the camera to capture the scenery. As the course does get extremely busy booking is essential and you should let Med Golf reserve your tee time to avoid disappointment.
