Play Golf In Spain - On The Costa De La Luz
Spain's southwest coastline, The Costa de la Luz (the coast of light), is becoming increasingly popular as
the rest of Europe and visitors from further a field discover the undeveloped, golden sandy beaches and the
history that surrounds the province of Cadiz. Golf
is now an extremely integral part of the Costa de la Luz
and many people are happy to experience the peace and tranquillity of the area compared to the more robust
Costa del Sol.
There are some splendid courses to be enjoyed including
the 5-star
Montecastillio, the two courses at
Novo Sancti Petri,
San Lucar and
El Puerto at Puerto Santa Maria and the majestic
Dehesa Montenmedio.
If you have not played Dehesa then it is a must, as it
has to be one of the finest courses in Spanish golf. All these courses are within 45 minutes of each other.
As with the Costa del Sol, at Med Golf we pride
ourselves on dealing with all these top courses to
book tee times for visiting golfers. Not only are our
tee times guaranteed but also our price promise
is that they will be the cheapest on the Costa de la Luz.
In addition, we can arrange golfing packages to the area and offer several
hotels for you to choose from including the superb
Montecastillio just outside Jerez and the wonderful
Hotel Valentine at Novo Sancti Petri.
The area is much more accessible these days and this is one of the reasons the popularity for golf on the
Costa del la Luz is increasing. Access from the
east from Malaga airport has improved with the new motorways and access from the west by air into Jerez
is constantly becoming busier and busier. The airport now attracts visitors from the rest of Europe
and although serviced by only one UK airline at present (Ryanair from Stansted), the airport handles
another eighteen different airlines from Germany and Austria. In addition, Gibraltar airport gives
access from the east and handles flights from the UK.

position at the entrance to the Mediterranean has made it an important port for seafarers and a main
departure point over the centuries for the fleets leaving for the Americas, including Christopher
Columbus in his day. There is so much to see here and don't forget to taste some of the finest sherries
ever produced in the area from the likes Gonzalez Byass, Domecq, Sandeman and John Harvey to name but a
few. There is a large connection with Scottish whisky distillers where there is a demand for the for the
sherry casks to mature Scotland's golden liquid. Visit Puerto Santa Maria and sample the excellent seafood,
which is speciality of the area with the seafaring tradition. Throughout the province of Cadiz there is
something for everyone to see and enjoy, whether it be the beaches, white villages, natural parks, the
pedigree horses, the bird life and the fauna, the local eagles, the windsurfing at Tarifa and much, much more.
Golf and the Costa de la Luz is
growing hand in hand and the province of Cadiz does have so much to offer.
It is one of the nicest destinations where you can play golf in a presently unspoilt atmosphere.
