Sherry Golf resort is only 15 minutes from Jerez and plays a major part in the ever-increasing demand for golf on the Costa de la Luz. It opened in 2004 and this luxurious 18-hole championship course prides itself on being one of the longest in Spain. Stirling and Martin designed it to an American style, with wide fairways, large greens and water hazards on several of the holes. It can be a demanding course for all levels and to give golfers an idea of the difficulty they may face, the par 4, 13th is stroke index 1 and measures 433 metres with lakes to the left and right. The green is then two thirds surrounded by water!
The course takes advantage of the natural contours of the landscape and consists of ten par 4's, four par 5's and four par 3's, each with their own identification and degree of difficulty. Several championships are held here both for amateurs and professionals, with the most notable being the second stage of the PGA European Qualifying School in 2006, which will again be held here in 2007. If you are in the area, it is well worth a visit, as other courses such as Montecastillio and Montenmedio are in the immediate vicinity. Located just off the motorway from Jerez to El Puerto de Santa Maria, the course is easily accessible with Jerez airport only 5 minutes away and Seville International airport 40 minutes. The quieter, Costa de la Luz is becoming increasingly popular for golfing holidays, so why not let Med Golf arrange your break here?
Sherry Golf resort also has a lovely 9-hole par 3 course and a magnificent golf academy that is one of the finest in the area. On arrival you will find ample parking, a fully equipped pro shop and full practice facilities. The clubhouse has all the required changing facilities, as well as superb refreshments and food from the terrace grill.
The whole complex is impressive and designed to ensure you will enjoy your golf here. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
