Located in the heart of the Costa del Sol and close to Malaga airport, Torrequebrada is a favourite course for
many visitors from all over the world. Opened in 1976, the course was designed by one of Spain's favourites,
Pepe Garcedo who is considered the Picasso of golf's architects. Torrequebrada's eighteen holes are blessed with
magnificent views over the Mediterranean and the layout is quite incredible in such a small parcel of land.
Over the years the club has flourished and despite all the new development that seems to have materialised recently,
it is still a delight to play and a very good test of golf for all handicaps. The course itself is very mature and
is always to be found in immaculate condition. It is rich in natural hazards and tropical trees and the numerous lakes
and strategically placed bunkers present an interesting challenge on most holes. The course can be torturous for the
inexperienced golfer and is extremely tight in places. The greens are well kept and a feature of the course. Those
with good memories will remember the 1979 Spanish open was held here and many of the Spanish pros like to practice
here especially Miguel Angel Jimenez who lives in the area.
The most curious hole is the par-3 third that is a 79m plunge from the tee and no matter how many times you play it,
the tee shot will always scare you. This is a course that is extremely popular with visitors to the extent it can get
frustratingly busy when you are out on the course. You should let
Med Golf arrange your tee time to avoid disappointment
and we would recommend an early start.
Med Golf has staged competitions here and it is a good course to play if you are in the area.
On arrival you will find ample parking and a clubhouse with good changing facilities as well as bar and restaurant.
The course can be walked but it is advisable to take advantage of the buggies that are on offer. There is a well-stocked
pro shop, driving range, putting green and tuition facilities if required.
