Golf Courses at Hotel Encinar de Sotogrande

La Reserva Golf Club

La Reserva was designed by the American, Cabell B. Robinson, who is responsible for a number of renowned projects along the Andalucian coast, including La Cala and Alcaidesa Links.

The course measures over 6,700 metres from the championship markers and is a severe test of golf, but like most good modern resort courses, the wide variety of tees ensures that golfers of every calibre are suitably accommodated for.

La Reserva is characterised by its generous fairways and its massive, undulating greens, which are protected by vast swathes of stunning white sand. With stunning views of the mountains and the amazing Mediterranean coastline, it is no surprise that La Reserva is held in such high regard.

La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort

La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort boasts two outstanding championship courses that showcase the true beauty of the Spanish countryside, with an established reputation as one of Andalucia's premier golf clubs. The courses share the same stretch of rolling terrain as the revered layouts at Valderrama Golf Club, San Roque New Golf Club, Sotogrande Golf Club, La Reserva and many more of top golf courses in Spain.

Alcaidesa Links is the older of the two golf courses that form part of this 36 hole golf resort. Designed by famed golf commentator Peter Alliss and Clive Clarke, The Links Course offers views of Gibraltar and Africa. The course meanders through mature Spanish countryside, framed perfectly by the Mediterranean sea, to provide a great golf experience on your next golf holiday in Andalucia.

Alcaidesa Heathland is the newer addition. Designed by former Ryder Cup golfer and world-renowned golf architect Dave Thomas, the course provides great playability and is a superb test for all handicaps.

With such an incredible grouping of courses, this region of the Costa del Sol makes for a golf holiday of outstanding quality. Alcaidesa benefits from an amazing location right on the Mediterranean shores, affording spectacular views down the coastline towards the Rock of Gibraltar.

San Roque Club, Old Course

San Roque's Old Course was officially unveiled in 1990, and was designed by the legendary Dave Thomas, the man responsible for so many terrific projects at home and abroad. Following revision work on the bunkering by Seve Ballesteros, the Old Course hosted the European Tour's finest professionals for the 2005 Spanish Open.

The course is an exacting proposition, whose tight, sloping fairways wind through the cork trees that make the estate so famous, affording incredible views of the surrounding mountains.

The inward half is the more spectacular, traversing the rolling hills and demanding brave carries over the cavernous gullies. The closing holes take in the shimmering lakes at the centre of the resort, presenting a finish as beautiful as it is challenging. With an internationally renowned golf academy and two of the region's finest championship course, visiting the San Roque Club is an essential component of any good golfing holiday in Southern Spain.
