Golf Courses at Iberostar Royal Andalus
Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club
The Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club is less than 250 yards from the hotel and features 36 holes designed by Seve Ballesteros as well as incredible practice facilities at the Jack Nicklaus Academy.
The first of the 18-holes is called the Mar & Pinos, which means Sea & Pines and this couldn’t be more fitting for a name as the course is a tale of two-nines. The front nine is fairly open but there’s danger in the form of lakes and water hazards, whereas the back nine is more punishing of any wayward tee shots as there are pine trees scattered everywhere.
The second 18-hole course is called the Central which is a Par 72 with a twist as there are 6-par 3s, 6 par-4s and 6 par-5s. A stand out hole will be the 18th which features an iconic fairway bunker in the shape of an S on the 18th, to stand for Seve Ballesteros the course designer.
Accommodation at Iberostar Royal Andalus
The Iberostar Royal Andalus Hotel has 413 rooms that either have views of the Sea or the golf course, which can be enjoyed from the balcony of double rooms, family rooms or luxurious suites. For a closer view of the sea, then follow the wooden decking from the hotel straight out onto the beach where sun-loungers and the Sea Soul Beach Club will be waiting, so that even whilst on the beach you can be fully looked after. For more relaxation and enjoyment even closer to your room, however, there are 2 swimming pools and a spa which is fully equipped with massages, facials, an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and a turkish bath.
For the children, the Iberostar Royal Andalus Hotel is a dream as there are 3 fun-clubs, a playground and a water-park featuring a viking-ship, dragon and slides for children aged between 4-12. And for the slightly older children or sporting enthusiasts there are also tennis courts, table tennis by the pool, horse riding along the beach, beach volleyball and and a gym available for adults.
Although, the Iberostar Royal Andalus Hotel has all these activities and relaxation at your door-step, there is also the nearby town of Chiclana de la Frontera within 10km where you can explore the local shops or visit historical landmarks including the Sancti Petri Castle. Buses run every 30 minutes from the hotel to Chiclana, so even when wanting to leave the hotel you are catered for.
As well as Chiclana to visit, there is the Bay of Cadiz which couldn’t be more perfect for a family walk or a romantic stroll. And for those that don’t want an early night, outside the hotel bar there is Atenas Playa in Chiclana which is a lovely bar overlooking the Atlantic Ocean where you can sip cocktails until the sun goes down.
The IBEROSTAR Royal Andalus is the perfect golf break in Spain which provides the opportunity to play the first Seve Ballesteros course design in Spain as well as practice at one of the largest Academy’s that is based around a Jack Nicklaus philosophy of golf. This golfing experience matched with a stay at the luxurious 4* hotel equipped with a spa, tennis courts, children’s playground and a beach club walking distance away will make for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. All of this is available less than 1h30minutes from the Gibraltar International Airport.
